Check this out!!

Agata Olek is the name of the artist that created these crochet sculptures. Click on the title of this post to go to her website with more crocheted items as well as other items. These are just amazing, I can't even imagine how long it takes to make just one of these (they are life sized). All I can say is wowowowowowowowowow!!!!

Pattern of the Week

I thought this was a really neat way to use crochet for something other than washcloths and doilies. You will need a hairpin lace frame (can buy at most shops that have crochet stuff or online - they run about $5) and know how to do hairpin lace, but it's not difficult and this is a neat thing to have on hand around Halloween. Happy hooking. Click on the picture to go to the pattern.

Pattern of the Week

I thought this was a really great star pattern. And as the author shows it can be made into pillows or an afgan. Click on the pic to go to the site. Happy hooking!!

Money Saving Tip -- Destash

You can get tons of good deals if you search one particular word on Etsy or Ebay -- Destash.

People who have too much yarn and want to get rid of it quickly will offer it up for very low prices. I recently got a whole box of yarn with hooks and patterns for $10 (there was five full skeins of Vanna's Choice alone -- so you know I got a good deal).

Beware though, some sellers say destash, but then charge full price. Refer back to another tip of mine. Search the web for prices on the yarn you are interested in and make sure you are getting a good deal (don't forget to add shipping to the price).

WOW!!!

Can you tell what this is made out of? I couldn't when I first saw this blog. Then I scrolled down and realized that all of this author's creations are made with soda can pull tabs!! You have got to check out her site (it is not in english -- not sure what language actually) but this stuff is so interesting it makes you want to start collecting the pull tabs so you can try it.
What will they think of next.

Do you EdgeryDoo?

I don't, but I am thinking about trying. What is edgery doo you ask? It is a plastic tool with a piercer that helps you pierce fabric evenly so you can do neat crochet edging. I have been wanting to try edging on my daughter's plain shirts so I might shell out the $15 or so dollars to get this tool to make it easier.
Anyone out there have one?
I will keep you posted if I buy one. In the mean time you can check it out by clicking on the pic.
